Domestic Partnership

Domestic Partnership – save time, money and stress by using mediation.

While dissolution of a Domestic Partnership has the same emotional impact as a divorce, the process is different.  The State of Arizona does not recognize these unions; therefore, the two viable options available to couples are mediation or civil litigation.  The civil Courts are overcrowded and are not set to hear domestic issues.  Mediation allows Domestic Partners the forum to present all of their issues in a comfortable, confidential setting and have a legally binding agreement.

TIME:  It can take months or even years to get a final Court Order or Civil Judgment.  Mediation can expedite the process and it can be scheduled when it is convenient for the clients.

MONEY:  A civil lawsuit can cost tens of thousands of dollars to litigate. Clients can find a better way to spend their money--especially if they have children.   Mediation can save each party tens of thousands of dollars.

STRESS:  Mediation can make the process a lot easier, by putting the decisions in the hands of those involved.  Cases are settled in hours, usually two sessions.  At URMe, our mediations are conducted in a comfortable, confidential setting rather than the intimidating environment of a Courtroom.

URMe provides an initial 1/2-hour complimentary session to explain the mediation process.

Cost of URMe hourly mediation services:

  • An initial retainer includes five (5) hours of the Mediator’s time and a one time administrative fee, which must be paid prior to the commencement of any services
  • If additional time is required, a supplemental five (5) hour retainer must be paid prior to scheduling further mediation sessions
  • If less time is used, any remaining funds will be refunded

URMe encourages mediation participants to share the cost of mediation equally; however, other arrangements can be made, as agreed by the participants. URMe requires a Fee Agreement, Confidentiality Agreement, Client Consent and Disclosure signed by both parties and payment prior to the commencement of any services.

URMe does not provide legal and/or tax advice to mediation participants. We strongly recommend that each participant privately consult with advisors of his/her choosing for independent legal and/or tax advice. Upon request, URMe can provide clients with a list of Attorneys and/or tax advisors.
